Privacy policy

The short version
Progress Snap helps you photograph your child's schoolwork, understand how they're going, and keep a private journal. Your photos and journal are private to your account. We don't sell your data, we don't show ads, and we never share your child's work with other users. You can delete any photo, or your whole account, at any time.
What we collect
Your account: your email address and a password (stored only as a secure hash), or your Google sign-in if you choose that.
Your children: a first name or nickname and an optional year level — nothing more. We never ask for surnames, birthdates, schools or photos of faces.
The work you photograph: the photo itself, the date, the child you filed it under, and the assessment our system writes about it.
Billing: if you upgrade to Pro, payment is handled by Stripe. We never see or store your card number — only your plan status and renewal dates.
Where your photos live
Photos are stored in private cloud storage provided by our hosting platform (Lovable Cloud, which runs on Supabase infrastructure). The storage is private by default: every photo is kept under your account, and the rules on the database and storage mean only you can read, change or delete your own family's entries. Other users cannot see your journal, and there is no public link to any photo — the app creates short-lived, expiring links only for you, only while you're signed in.
How the assessment works
When you ask for an assessment, the photo is sent securely to an AI provider (OpenAI) so it can read the work and write your feedback. The photo is used only to produce that assessment — it is not used to train AI models, and it is not kept by the AI provider for that purpose. If you include your child's first name, it is sent along so the feedback can read naturally; you can leave the name out if you prefer.
Who we share data with
Only the services needed to run Progress Snap:
- Lovable Cloud / Supabase — hosting, sign-in, database and private photo storage.
- OpenAI — reads each photo once to write your assessment.
- Stripe — processes Pro payments (card details never touch our servers).
We don't sell data, run advertising, or share your information with anyone else.
Your choices and rights
Delete a photo: open any journal entry and delete it — the photo and its assessment are removed from storage.
Delete everything: your account page has a "Delete account" option. This permanently removes your sign-in, your children, every photo and every assessment. It can't be undone.
Ask us anything: message us any time and we'll help with access, correction or deletion requests.
Children's privacy
Progress Snap is a tool for parents, not children. Accounts are created and used by adults, and we deliberately collect as little information about children as possible — a nickname and a year level is all we ever ask for.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle data, we'll update this page and change the date at the top. Material changes will be flagged on the site before they take effect.
